Chinese log prices reached new record highs

Lumber Demand in the US Increased Importation

Modest outlook for the European construction market till 2015

The combined market of the six European countries included in the Arch-Vision report, is starting to show the first signs of recovery, but real growth is expected no earlier than 2015. Although the British architects see improvement in their order books, most other markets are still worsening. These are some of the conclusions of the Q3 2012 report of the European Architectural Barometer, a quarterly research among 1,200 architects in six European countries. Euro crisis constricts the Finnish forest industry

Italian Woodworking Technology: Forecast, Issues and Trends

The year 2011 was characterized by a significant recovery. According to the preliminary figures processed by the Studies office of Acimall, production amounted to 1,699 million euros, increasing by 10.2 percent compared to 2010. Export in 2011 amounted to 1,278 million euros, i.e. 75 percent of total production. Acimall analysts estimate that, in 2011, Italian machinery export accounted for 18 percent of global offer, confirming the international leadership of “made in Italy” products in this industry. ... Sawlog prices trended downward worldwide

Wood costs have fallen the past year for many sawmills in the major lumber-producing countries worldwide. The Global Sawlog Price Index was US$82.90 per cubic meter in the 2Q/12, which was 11.5% lower than in the 2Q/11, according to the Wood Resource Quarterly.
